Craft Beer right at home at Kinross

Sit a while and enjoy, or grab a flagon to go!

The introduction of Invercargill Brewery's craft beer on tap at the Kinross Store, has been well received by guests and locals alike. Adding magnificently to Kinross's already popular wine, coffee and platter offerings, the beer is proving popular any day of the week. Jeremaia has selected the BMan Pilsner, Nally's Cider, Pitch Black Stout and Stanley Green Pale Ale from the Invercargill Brewery range and reports that each brew has its keen followers.

Invercargill Brewery has been brewing beautiful beer since 1999, when Steve Nally finally gave up his day job to brew full time. So like a lot of Kiwi businesses, Invercargill Brewery is a 15 year overnight success!

When, in 2002, beer writer Keith Stewart released his Complete Guide to NZ Beer he described it as "an impressive wee brewery that epitomizes the enterprise and creativity of New Zealand's next brewing generation."

Stewart gave Pitch Black a 9/10 on the taste test, and awarded B.man "different but delicious" a 7/10.

Invercargill Brewery's first brew – IBS – has since been superseded by a popular pale ale called Stanley Green. Lance Corporal Stanley Green was Steve's maternal grandfather who survived Dunkirk only to die in a training accident in Scotland in 1942.

"I think he was an ordinary man doing something extraordinary" Steve reckoned, and a great inspiration for one of his favourite beers.
